Attending therapy is a transformative step toward managing stress, but it's important to remember that emotional relief alone might not fully resolve all the challenges we face in life. Therapy offers a safe, structured environment for discussing emotions, processing difficult experiences, and developing coping strategies, which are crucial for emotional well-being. But for many people, the stress in their lives also stems from very practical, external factors—such as financial hardships, job instability, or navigating complex systems like healthcare, education, or housing. This is why we're so excited to introduce you to our new Client Success Coordinator, Devin Gray.

While therapy helps you develop the internal tools to cope with emotional stress, Devin can help you address the external stressors that therapy alone may not resolve. For no additional charge, Devin can work alongside you, ensuring that you're connected to the social support and resources—whether that’s finding affordable housing, connecting with financial assistance, or helping navigate the job market. Here's some things our therapy clients can ask Devin to help with, any time: Needs Assessment

You don't have to know exactly what you need in order for Devin to help you. Devin can conduct several kinds of assessments to help you determine what you need and possible solutions. For example, maybe you have an upcoming job transition and aren't sure what areas of your life may be impacted. Devin can help you think meaningfully and thoroughly about what your needs might be.

Resource Search

The resources, services, and other sources of support around us can't do us much good when we don't know what's available or if we're even eligible for what they offer. Devin can help. Whether you need to find a resource to meet a need or figure out how to apply for or access that need, Devin can ease that process. For example, Devin can help find and connect you to resources to ease the impact of that job transition.

Advocacy

Sometimes we know what we need and we may even know the resources that may meet that need. However, we may not know how to connect with the resource or may simply be too overwhelmed to do so on our own. Devin can make connections for you, help you with applications, and even virtually attend meetings with you to provide support. For example, if you're a parent of a child with an IEP, you know stress and feeling isolated. Devin can attend the IEP meeting by phone to take notes to review with you and/or your child's therapist later.

Emotional Support Between Sessions

If you find you need a listening ear between sessions, Devin is a trained listener. Devin can also help you learn and practice coping skills and problem-solving strategies. For example, you're overwhelmed by stress at work today or maybe you're going through a tough breakup but your therapist isn't available or you don't need a whole session. Devin can offer a compassionate ear, allowing you to vent and feel heard.

Monitoring and Follow-up

When you're navigating a lot of stress or a big to-do list, remembering what comes next or knowing when to take your next step can be difficult. Devin can help you keep track of your problem-solving efforts through follow-up sessions, emails, or texts.

Genograms

A genogram is a visual map of your family relationships going back several generations. It shows patterns of behavior, communication, and emotional connections within your family. A genogram can highlight issues like conflict, illness, addiction, or trauma. Devin can make one with you for you to keep. You can also use your genogram in therapy to help you understand how your family dynamics might influence your present-day struggles.

This combination of emotional support through therapy and practical help from our Client Success Coordinator can make a significant difference in your overall well-being. If you find that despite your therapy sessions, external problems still weigh heavily on you, reaching out to Devin (or asking your therapist to have Devin call you) could be a powerful next step. Together, Devin and your therapist can provide a more complete framework of support, addressing both the mental and material aspects of stress, so you can move forward in life with confidence and peace of mind.
